Key Announcement

Anthropic has released a set of connectors that integrate Claude directly into the software used by creative professionals. The goal is to expand creative possibilities, handle repetitive tasks, and allow creatives to take on larger-scale projects.

New Connectors for Creative Tools

Connectors allow Claude to access and interact with other platforms. The newly released connectors are:

  • Ableton: Grounds Claude's answers in official documentation for Live and Push.
  • Adobe for Creativity: Enables work with images, videos, and designs across 50+ Creative Cloud apps (Photoshop, Premiere, Express, etc.).
  • Affinity by Canva: Automates repetitive production tasks (batch adjustments, layer renaming, file export) and generates custom features within the app.
  • Autodesk Fusion: Allows designers/engineers with a Fusion subscription to create and modify 3D models through conversation.
  • Blender: Provides a natural-language interface to Blender's Python API for exploring setups and accessing documentation.
  • Resolume Arena & Wire: Lets VJs and live visual artists control Arena, Avenue, and Wire in real time via natural language.
  • SketchUp: Turns conversations into starting points for 3D modeling (e.g., describe a room, then open it in SketchUp).
  • Splice: Allows music producers to search Splice's royalty-free sample catalog from within Claude.

Use Cases for Claude in Creative Work

  • Learning & Mastering Tools: Acts as an on-demand tutor for complex software (e.g., explaining a modifier stack or synthesis technique).
  • Extending Tools with Code: Claude Code can write scripts, plugins, and generative systems (e.g., custom shaders, procedural animations, parametric models).
  • Bridging Tools in a Pipeline: Translates formats, restructures data, and syncs assets across multiple applications to eliminate manual handoffs.
  • Rapid Exploration & Handoff: Claude Design (a new product from Anthropic Labs) visualizes and iterates on software experience ideas, with export capabilities starting with Canva.
  • Handling Repetitive Production: Manages multi-step tasks like batch-processing assets, setting up project scaffolding, or applying procedural changes.

Spotlight: Claude and Blender

  • Blender developers created an MCP connector, now officially available for Claude.
  • Use Cases: Artists can analyze/debug entire Blender scenes or build custom scripts for batch changes. The connector allows Claude to add new tools directly to Blender's interface via its Python API.
  • Anthropic's Support: Anthropic made a one-time donation to support Blender's Python API development (updated from an initial mention of the Blender Development Fund).
  • Open Standard: The connector is built on MCP, making it accessible to other LLMs besides Claude, reflecting Blender's commitment to open source.

Collaboration with Educational Institutions

Anthropic is working with art and design programs to support curricula involving creative computation. The first three partner programs are:

  1. Art and Computation at Rhode Island School of Design
  2. Fundamentals of AI for Creatives at Ringling College of Art and Design
  3. MA/MFA Computational Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London

Students and faculty will receive access to Claude and the new connectors. Their feedback will help shape future tool development. The program is planned to expand to more institutions.
